Guns N ‘Roses – Biography
Guns N ‘Roses is an American hard rock band formed in Hollywood (Los Angeles, California) in 1985. The group was founded by Axl Rose and rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin.
The current lineup features vocalist Axl Rose, rhythm guitarist Richard Fortus, keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Melissa Reese, drummer Frank Ferrer, bassist Duff McKagan and lead guitarist Slash, these last two, considered classic members of the group, they resumed their place in the band after 23 years.
The band has sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, including more than 58 million albums in the United States. The album Appetite for Destruction of 1987 has sold 30 million copies worldwide and reached number 1 on the Billboard 200 in the United States. In addition, four songs from the album entered the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and “Sweet Child or ‘Mine” was at number one. His 1988 album G N ‘R Lies has sold more than 14 million copies worldwide and his song “Patience” entered the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 and the album reached number two on the Billboard 200.
The twin albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II, of 1991, rose to number 2 and 1 of the Billboard 200, respectively, staying for 108 weeks, having a combined sales figure of more than 35 million copies worldwide and 14 million copies sold only in the United States, six of the singles of both albums reached the Billboard Hot 100 and four of them entered the Top 10 of the same list. His next work would be the album of versions of punk and glam songs of the year 1993 entitled The Spaghetti Incident ?, which came off three singles, of which one entered the Billboard Hot 100 and two entered the compilation of great hits; the album reached number 4 on the Billboard 200 and number two on the UK Album Chart. During the period in which the band returned to the stage with new musicians came two albums, one live entitled Live Era: ’87 -’93 in 1999 and another compilation called Greatest Hits in 2004; that, although the band was negative to the exit of the album, it had a great commercial success (it has sold almost 6 million copies only in the United States and 13 million copies in the whole world); reached number one in the UK Album Chart and three in the Billboard 200, was 138 weeks in the Billboard 200. After a decade of work and problems with former members in the courts, the band released their next album, Chinese Democracy, in 2008 ; They have released three singles, and one of them entered the Billboard Hot 100 and two in the Mainstream Rock Tracks, and the album reached number three on the Billboard 200 and number two on the UK Album Chart.
On June 30, 1992 they performed for the first time in Spain, at the Benito Villamarín football stadium in Seville together with Faith No More and Soundgarden, while the planned concert in Madrid was suspended due to the aluminosis of the Vicente Calderón stadium.
